Why RLT® Flooring Pays Off

The longer life, lower maintenance costs and increased safety provided by Road Load Tested® Flooring are changing the way operators are thinking about flatbed, drop deck and step deck trailer floors. Trailer flooring is becoming an asset instead of a liability.

RLT® Flooring can double the life of trailer flooring, reduce maintenance costs and increase safety because it eliminates the locations where most deterioration takes place.

RLT Flooring eliminates all interior board ends (usually more than 100 per trailer floor) that are subject to rot, wear and damage from forklift tines. 12 to15 full length  planks are installed with RLT Flooring compared to 50 boards with random length flooring
Based on information from operators, RLT Flooring is doubling floor life, slashing maintenance costs in half and relieving the worries of safety directors. RLT Flooring benefits everyone in the industry:

RLT Flooring is an engineered product backed by a patented production process and Just In Time (JIT) service. It is produced in an eight-step process that includes:
  • Selection
  • All planks selected for manufacturing into RLT Flooring must meet the stringent criteria developed by OHC. Once selected, the hardwoods are transported to OHC’s manufacturing facility in Stockton, AL, USA, where a large inventory is maintained.

  • Kit design
  • RLT Flooring kits are designed to match the current specifications of trailer manufacturers. Kits are also designed to match existing trailers. Custom designs can be prepared to meet all trailer sizes and applications.

  • Patented manufacturing process
  • RLT Flooring is produced in patented process that delivers one-piece trailer length planks with consistent strength throughout the plank. The trailer length planks eliminate over 50 interior board ends and 100 screw holes that can create maintenance problems and damage-prone areas in conventional trailer flooring.

  • Proof load tested
  • RLT Flooring is tested for strength during the manufacturing process. Only RLT planks that have passed rigid proof testing are accepted.

  • Branded
  • RLT Flooring is marked with the RLT brand once it has passed testing and inspections.  Only RLT flooring produced by OHC can carry the RLT brand

  • Inventory
  • RLT Flooring is inventoried for prompt shipment to customers. OHC has made hundreds of Just In Time (JIT) shipments of RLT flooring from its inventory since RLT was created in 1991.

  • On-the-road monitoring
  • RLT Flooring is monitored in on-the-road service. OHC tracks the performance of RLT Flooring with carriers, distributors, and manufacturers and prepares "RLT Road Reports" on its performance.
